i bought a dog bed for my dog months ago and she will not use it. i got rid of her cage which we had since we got her(12 years ago) since i thought she'd be more comfortable in a bed. well, i put the bed where the cage was, and she totally ignores it. i put treats in it, a t-shirt of mine, i even layed in it to get my scent on it! if i got in it, she would come over and get in for a second, but quickly leave. i tried putting it in another place she likes to sleep and she started avoiding that place! so, now it is back where the cage used to be and she won't have anything to do with it. sigh...... any suggestions?

... Hahaha, dogs are just like kids in a lot of ways. We all have seen that child who received an expensive toy but ended up enjoying playing with the box more than the actual toy. So too have most of us seen a dog who was given the 'best', and most expensive, toy, food, bed, etc... found to have that dog totally ignore it. Hmmm, so it seems with your baby's new bed. Maybe your dog is one of those that prefers an old t-shirt or the bathroom rug to snuggle up on over a nice bed. Also, dogs, just like people, don't like change. She may just need time to get used to it. Then again, maybe not.

thanks for your reply. it made me laugh! yeah, i know what you mean though. i just feel bad because she would still go in her cage. i got rid of it because she just looked cramped up in it. naturally i thought putting a bed in its place would be so much better. and it's just a simple bed, which i put my shirt and mattress cover on from her cage. well, what can i say? she is a dog still, so i guess it isn't that big of a deal. i guess i was more excited about it than she was!
