Default dog mounting problems

Hi,

I just joined. I have a 2 1/2 year old Black Lab mix, Sally, for over a year now. Today we went to pick out a playmate for her. However, Cisco, a 3 year old 85 lb mutt keeps mounting her constantly. We have tried flipping him on his back to show she is dominant over him, but nothing really is working. How big of a problem is this? Is this a problem that can be corrected, and how? Both dogs will be outside dog and will be sharing a dog house and a 10 x 20kennel during the day while the owners are at work, and at night while they sleep. I really do not want my Lab being humped all day long, and I do not think she wants it either. She will bark, growl, snip, and hide behing her owners. She will not just bite and tell him to back off. She keeps trying to play and wrestle with him, but he just keeps humping! Please help. He seems to be a great dog, and we really do not want to have to return him to the pound! Also, he was neutered 3 days ago. Could this have anything to do with his need to mount?

his activities should be somewhat restricted since he just had surgery. I know not easy.

the hormones often don't entirely leave the system for up to 2 months, so this is to be expected, it can also be dominance behavior but I believe at this point it is hormonal. she is spayed yes?

a large part of the problem is they were just thrown together. there was not a slow introduction. he is an intruder in her home. I would seperate them immediately & let them get used to each other - crate, baby gate, however - but seperattion is a must.

how did you think YOU doing an alpha roll on him would make him understand the SHE is the alpha? alpha rolls should only ever been done by very experienced trainers & be assured they rarely do that. it was also not a very good thing to do when the dog just got out of surgery even tho neutering is not significantly invasive.

you are going to have to crate one of them when you aren't there. they are really much safer in the house.
