Question Female mini schnauzer being dominant???

HI, My beautiful 27 week old female mini schnauzer seems to be abit of a pain around our cat and some dogs. We she gets the cat alone she proceeds to climb on top of her and hunker down. Trapping the cat on the ground. She recently did this to a small female terrier that she meet. I have not got tons of experience with dogs but I assume she is trying to be dominant towards them. How should I handle this when it happens?? Please your input would be appreciated. I don't want this problem to get worse. So far I have just yelled at her and put her for a time out in her kennel...

this is not uncommon behavior and is a dominance issue. I have 13 Miniature Pinschers along with 2 IG's of them I have several that do this with a couple of my cats. I have found more so that it is the female dogs that are not spayed that do it. Of those spayed only one which is the alpha occasionally will. I use a spray bottle to get them to stop and it works fine. One bit of advice, do not use the crate to discipline as it may send the dog mix signals. You want the dog to view the crate as a good place.
