that's odd... usually dog scratches because of flea or tick problem and also due to allergy problems.

Exclamation Dog Allergies I

Can dogs have allergies? Absolutely!

Food-Related & Environmental

Itching, Biting, Loose Stool, Tear Stains, Coughing, and Vomit are signs of Food-Related Allergies.

Tear Stains, Colored Eye Discharge, Itching, Biting, Sneezing, and Coughing are all signs of Environmental Allergies.

Because the symptoms are fairly similar it can be hard to determine what is causing what. Example: Biting at the feet means a yeast allgery (food-related) but it can also mean dust mite allergy, carpet cleaner allergy, etc (environmental).

How to avoid allergies? Be sure to feed Natural Premium Dog Foods, Salmon Oils, and Fresh Clean Water. Bath the dog with a moisturizing/skin conditioner and leave it in for 5 minutes. Vaccum carpet on a regular basis. Avoid topical cleaners like fabreeze, deoderizors, etc. Avoid fertilized grass, treated ground, etc.

Collars can cause irritation; but if the itching is consistant you may want to change some things in his lifestyle.
