My dog licks and sucks at his butt a lot! (Sorry, can't think of a more polite way to say it.) He's been checked for worms and the vet says he's fine. Is there another reason why he does this? Do all dogs do this?!

Some dogs are very clean...and obsessed about cleanliness. Did your vet check your dog for unexpressed anal glands? If the vet says medically that he is fine, but you still feel that there is something wrong, you may want to check with another vet, for a second opinion. Just some ideas. Good luck!

Often dogs do this because of anal gland problems. If your vet didn't check them, he should. Another cause can be allergies, especially food allergies. Or it could be an obsessive/compulsive disorder. Ask your vet about that, too.

Thanks for the feedback! I took my dog to the vet today and she's thinking it's a food allergy. Anal glands are fine and no worms.
