Unhappy 4 yr old peekapoo twins getting up in middle of nite

For the past two weeks, my peekapoo twins are waking me to go out in the middle of the nite. How do I stop this?

Maybe a change in their diet has coused this, or it might need the attention of a vet if it's an infection that is responsible.
Also the timing of their last meal might have something to do with it. Try feedin' them earlier and take them out just before sleepin' time...

and dont give them a bowl of water after 6pm - just give them a couple of icecubes in a bowl until the morning. Also if they dont actually go to the toilet when you get up and go out then try taking them for a walk and playing tug-o-war or something before you go to sleep.

Default Peekapoos

Thanks for the ideas about their diet. I did buy them new "treats" and perhaps it didn't agree with them. They sleep with us (I know) and they have free reign of the house. They are extremely picky eaters. Their food is down always. Some days they don't even eat it seems. I will keep their snacks away and see how that goes. Thanks for all the advise. BCASEY

Hey, I wouldn't have it any other way!!! It is their house, their nest they are protecting when you're not there!!!
All three of us (my two darlin' dogs and I) sleep on my huge waterbed together like a fist. The best safest sleep a human animal can get...

Default Peeks waking you up

Based on your short message I have a couple suggestions.

Exercise them more. Take them out on more walks at a fast pace. I understant the breed is small but they have energy. More exercise the better. When dogs are tire and go to sleep, their natural body system slows down so they should not have to go outside. However, if they have energy, they will wake up early and the first couple steps they take will activate the system, causing them to have to go out.

Also, don't leave food in the bowl. Dogs are scavengers and will eat anything. Picky eaters come from giving them the option to eat whenever they like. Put the food out at scheduled times and if they don't eat it, take it away until the next time they eat. As soon as they learn that they have to eat at that particular time, they will eat. It's a matter of survival (in their mind). Also, more exercise with make them hungry and they won't be as picky.

Instead of giving them water at the end of the night, give them ice cubes. It provides enough water but not enough to make them have to go out in the middle of the night.

Thanks,

Chad Thompson
