Help, 2 male pups - Is it Impossible?
I have a 6 month old miniature bull terrier, that we have had since he was 2 months old. Last week, the breeder that we got him from called and asked us to take another male from the same litter because she was in a hard situation and had to place him in a loving home. At the time that we got our first puppy, it was only he and his brother that we now have left from the litter. They were together the longest but then separated for several months. We got the first puppy neutered the same day we got the new puppy, and his stitches are still healing - so we are having to separate them quite a bit. I dont know if this is a bad thing seeing as how we just got the new dog. Right now we have both crates right next to each other, so when we are away they are caged right next to each other, is this wrong? Should we separated their crates? They have not had a real fight or anything, but they are constantly picking at each other and biting at each other. I think they are playing, but it is non-stop. Are we doing the right things, are there any suggestions? Is it hopeless?.... I have read so many different things. Some say it is impossible to have same sex/age dogs together, while still others say that it can be done. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think it can be done and you are doing the right thing keeping them together. Their fighting is very natural, they are only kids playing, and with time will be best pals.
Neutering will help keep anger down, but keep in mind these dogs are tough plus they never get tired. They play hard, humans get scared to watch. They will mellow through time.
You have done a wonderful thing. Two together will be happier and make you happier too

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, that is just what I needed! I think I really feel that they will be fine together, but I read all these things and it makes me question our decision. I am glad we have both puppies, we really need a playmate for our first pup, so we will be patient - again thanks for the advice and positive words.

You are the mediator of peace among them. They love you and will tolerate each other better, since you ask them to.

The Boys
We currently have 3 males living in the house-2 Shelties and 1 Chocolate Lab/Sharpai mix and they get along just fine.
One of the Shelties, Max, is 17 months old now and Disco, the Lab, is almost 2. They play fight together even though their sizes differ. The only thing we have to do with this group is keep them separate when eating.
But they all sleep together, just like a pack, in our bedroom, of course:mrgreen:
So, don't worry, they'll be just fine.
