I am watching my friends dog for the next ten days while she is on vacation and her dog Reese is a 7lbs 5-year old altered female Yorkshire Terrier. I have a dog Milo who is a 10lbs 1-year old altered male mix breed terrier and he is being so good - but he wants to play with Reese so bad! Reese doesn't seem to know how to behave like a dog AT ALL she do any typical dog behaviors when interacting with Milo she doesn't sniff him, she wouldn't even pay any attention to him if he didn't try so hard to to make himself noticed. When I first introduced them, Milo was in his crate until he calmed down enough to come out and see her. She didn't approach his crate at all...when he came out he would sit and roll over and she ignored him. When he makes more aggressive attempts to play such as pawing and nudging she ignores his advances and then he resorts to pouncing - which I am discouraging but he is so eager to play! She wants nothing to do with him and hides under the furniture. What can I do to encourage her to play and interact with him? Is this something that will just take time?
