Default I need advice please...

I have a bordercollie, she is just over a year old. She does not like people and most dogs. All she does is barks and barks. She's not used of being around people but its for that reason she's not around people, I can't hardly ever have people over. I am having some family over in a few days 2 adults, 4children ages 4-12 and a small dog. I am so afraid of how she might react to this or if she even might bite someone. My question, is there anything I can do to make everything go ok or is there something they can do like somehow demand respect when they walk in the door? She doesn't listen much to me but maybe she will from a stranger not too sure but any advice I can get to make this visit a pleasant and safe one will be great. Please help!!!

Did you socialize her as a pup? My advice would be to keep her on a lesh with a choker and anytime she lunged or tried to bit one of the kids or the little dog, jerk her back and say "NO" firmly.

At this point, you don't really have time to effect the desired results before your company arrives (in which case, the advice Texas Ranger offered seems the best emergency stop-gap for now), but there is something you can do, long-range that will transform your dog. I saw Cesar address this exact same problem on his show once. This family could never have anyone over because they had an aggressive herding type dog. Cesar got a tennis racket and held it across his body. Then he knelt on one knee, torso straight and proud, in front of the dog's house (with the dog in it). He taught the family's friends to do the same when they arrived. He taught them to "take ownership" of the property they were coming to visit. It was really only a matter of hours, and the dog learned his place and backed off. This isn't all there was to it; there were some other important nuances I can't remember well enough to tell you here. But the point is, yes-- enlist some brave souls to help you "demand respect" from your dog so she can learn her place at the bottom of your "pack."
