Default Another dog breaking his house broken training....

I know this was covered in a recent threat, but I have a situation that's a bit more complicated because I have two dogs.

I recently tried using a haltie on my second dog (an Australian terrier - 1 1/2 yrs. old, shelter rescue), upon suggestion from a trainer. He's HATED it. After a week I've had to give up because it's now affecting him at home. He's broken his house breaking training that he had before me, so basically...he's house fixed. He's pooping in the house, even after 4 long walks a day - usually when I'm out, but now he's starting to do it in the middle of the night.

He and the first dog have run of the house while I'm gone and I'm worried that if I try to crate train him it will have an even more negative effect, given that there's another dog involved in the mix --- either w/ him feeling jealous or confined and the dogs feeling separation. How do you crate train with two dogs? Is there something else I should do? I've gotten rid of the haltie. Getting him to walk beside me just isn't worth un-doing previous good training! Any suggestions on what I can do to make him feel comfortable going outside again??? Help, please!

I think you've LOST your dogs because of the trainer.

I don't see a problem with crate training him. I have one that has to be crated when no one is home, and the other dog has free run of the house. Neither one seems to be adversely affected. I'd start over again, with crate training him just like he's a puppy.

But I'd also suggest you have your vet check him over for any medical problems that may be causing his change in behavior.

Does he neutered? It could help to settle down some behaviors for dog.
