Unhappy Whining a lot!

Heya! Me again... Well, my dog is much better from the kennel cough and (more than happy to say) is eating her kibble like a champ! This weekend, my husband, Sophi and I went camping/off-roading. Sophi had a lot of fun! You should have seen her nub wagging! We were very careful with her and watched her to make sure she was doing fine. She hasn't coughed since Friday and is getting friskier.

However, we bought her a new toy that's a hedgehog with a squeaker in it. She absolutely adores the thing, but she keeps pacing around the house with it in her mouth. When I go out to play with her (after she stops whining) she fetches a couple of times, then wants to go inside. I've fed her, walked her and loved her but she keeps doing this. I've tried giving her other toys to get her mind off it and kenneled her (she's in training) but if it's not within sight, she whines and whines and whines. I only give it back to her if she stops whining.

What is the reason for this?

Everytime I go outside with her she gets really excited, but after a few games, she gets "bored" and wants to go inside.

Default Whining a lot!

My dog does that with me-if I am not in sight or one the phone, etc. she will whine, bark...all the bells & whistles...4 me!-which has turned out to be a real problem! I would be stoked if she took to one of her toys that way. This might be a blessing in disguise....although....have you tried letting her take the hedgehog out with her? This is my first post so I don't know what type of dog Sophi is but if she is a working dog,(lab, terrier...) then maybe having her hedgehog around suffices her need for a job (i.e.she's now a babysitter (taking care of something)) or it may be her security blanket-which I say is far better than Sophie acting that way towards you or your husband...just my thoughts-I am by no means a professional...just hoping to find good advice for my own dog's issues
