Smile I can't get my puppy to sleep though the night

I have a 3 month old Bassett Hound and I am having a very hard time trying to get her to sleep though the night, at first I though I wasn't feeding her enough, the Vet seemed to agree that she needed more food because she could see her ribs. I am giving her 1 cup of food 3 times a day now and she is still waking up twice in the middle of the night. Any suggestions what I should do???? Thanks

Do you mean to say your puppy wakes to go potty during the night, or is she just an "early riser"? Puppies that young generally cannot hold their bladders all night long yet, and will need to wake to go out. When my dog was a puppy, I had to get up and take her out once or twice every night, until she was about 6 months old. After that, she could sleep all night. And even so, she will often wake up to change positions/locations. She never spends the whole night in one specific spot. She migrates. Sometimes, she will even get up and go snooze outside for a bit. (I work nights, and stay up on my nights off, so I'm able to observe her sleeping habits).

It's normal for dogs that young to wake up during the night. Until she gets older, you probably just have to have patience.

One thing that might help is giving her the last meal just before bedtime.

I'm not sure if I agree with RottOrNot. I was told that you should give the last meal much earlier before bed so you wouldn't be woken up in the middle of the night to let them go potty.
I feed my puppy once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

What I do agree with is that at 3 months they are still quite young and will gain more bladder control.

I do agree that she is still young but she has her last meal at 7:30PM and then we stay up and play for awhile, then she is down around 9 PM and then up again when my husband gets home around 1:30am, she does go out to pee when my husband gets home but she normal goes in the pen when she is home alone for appox 2-3hours.( I work days and my husband works nights so there is a time when she is alone and she does use the puppy pads in her pen.) She usually gets up around 5-6AM and goes out to pee, then falls back to sleep.but she does get up during those hours because she does pee on the pads. I guess time will tell I am aware she is a puppy and she will get better as she gets older. I guess it has to do alot with the breed too, I heard they are very hard to train, but she is learning.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Luckie
