Dallas has plenty of rawhide, chew toys, water bottles, Nylabones, kongs etc yet he will pass right by them to go get a ...
Hi pdw1731, dogs do seem alot like little kids don't they. Maybe the shoe thing is because the shoes actually have the 'ones they love' scent on them.
Do you play with the dog with the toy's? They like for you to join in the fun.
Shoes (and socks) are wonderful! They smell like feet! Underwear can be placed in the same category, the smell like, uuummm, body, LOL. They're almost irresistible.
A couple of things you might try; don't give your puppy all his toys at once. Switch them out every day. And rub them with your feet first, LOL.
Just kidding. When I first got my pup home, she loved EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING with my scent. I would come home and trip over a shoe right by the door she'd left cause she missed me. It was sooo endearing, then irritating. Funny thing is she never chewed my shoes but she was hell on my socks!
Puppies? Who says it stops at puppyhood? I have a 2 yr old greyhound that I got from the Humane Society a few months back. He used to have the run of the house at night, once I knew he wouldnt mess in the house and seemed well behaved. That is until I spent 45 mins searching for a shoe. I was starting to think he had eaten it, since there was no sign of it anyplace! Turns out he somehow threw it behind my entertainment center. He must have decided to play catch with it in the middle of the night. Needless to say hes now contained to one room at night. Mind you he also has 3 or 4 toys at all times to chose from, but that night he decided my shoe made a better toy I guess.
It's no doubt because the show has your sent on it. You should probably watch not to leave other things of yours that might have a scent laying around.
Maybe Dallas (a cool name) likes the shoe cause he's teething and it's softer.
