Red face Territorial issues new puppy older dog

Hello everyone. I have a 1 year old boston terrier. Female. A 3 month old boxer bull. If none of you read my intro we are truck drivers my husband and i so we knew by Diesel being in the truck for a year she would claim it as being all hers. Her toys her food her bed mine mine mine. She loves other dogs and needs a companion that is why we got bear he also needed a good home found in a home pound that takes care of the puppies till there old enough to leave. He was the last one there, enyways!

They play ok together they have fun,but he is teething and has sharp teeth. Also he is learning bite inhibitation. We watch them play every so often we get a yelp here and there. Recently i discoverd small spots on deisels face crusted with blood. Then i discoverd a cut on bears nose.

Are they playing to hard or are these territorial fights? Thing is they sleep on one another they drink out of the same bowl and kiss one another to.

Another issue. Bear is learning to be potty trained. Doing well but still cannot hold it long. Recently i have found one of them peeing on my pillow! Not once but three times i have used the enzime to get rid of the smell and stain there is no reason for it....Who is doing it? Deisel or Bear? Is bear marking my pillow?Bear has become a mommas boy and protects me often wanting all my attentions i been giveing it to Both of them i love both of them.Deisel is a Daddys girl seeking my husband most often then me. But she get's very jelouse when i give Bear attention and Barges right in on the whole thing sitting ontop of him.

If enyone has ideas or solutions to test i am all ears i raised puppies befor but never with these incidentses accuring.

Thank you

Corset

Hi Corset,

Although the female is older, it is most probably the male that is marking your pillow. He is still a bit young for that but it sounds as if he has you on as his master, and thus everything that belongs to you, also belongs to him (in his mind, that is). But you cannot really do anything unless you catch him in the act, except for being consistent in the potty training process. They are both two strong breeds that do not play gently. If you watch them playing and it becomes too rough, just step in and break up the play somewhat. You can allow them to play again after that and they will learn in time to play more gently. You can follow the link for more tips on dog training.

So let me get this straight.... you have two dogs living with you and your husband in the cab of a semi? Wow! It must be extremely crowded! I bet the dogs have a touch of cabin fever. There is nowhere they can get away from each other, to their own little corner, and just chill. Tension between humans living that closely together can get a bit much, the same will happen with dogs. I understand your life, though (my husband is also a truck driver, and until last year, we had our own semi) so I realize that telling you the dogs need more living space is not really an option, and doesn't help you. I'm sorry that I don't have any helpful suggestions in that regard.

Default Aw ty enyways

Thank you for responding, i know room is always an issue we are actually in one of the largest trucks besides a condo. They have room to play sleep eat and even run in circles it is not "that" Crowded we would never ever keep two dogs if we felt that even WE could not live in this Tin can without cabin fever. Also they go outside Often and have tons of toys they get alot of excersize my husband and i are fitt people haveing dogs helps us to.

But i wanted to say i been reading other posts in regards to aggression and i found one that hitt right on the nose for Deisel. I will be monitering her behavior and when SHE since it is her that is starting the whole aggression towards Bear it will be dealt with accordingly , So far she has responded VEry Well and understood that certin play and typs of behavior are not tolerated.

Whew! That's good news-- that you were able to hit on a solution, anyway. I'm glad for you; good job, and good luck!

P.S.: Happy trucking, and be careful-- there are a lot of idiots on the road with you, lol!
