Default My Dog is Lethargic

I recently started working from home and my dog has been lethargic. Is this normal behavior or should I be concerned? What is a good way to get his energy back? He goes out for walks and we go to the dog park. Any ideas?

Have the vet run a thyroid test. Another thing to consider, since you didn't say where you are: Is it summer where you live right now? Dogs tend to be a bit lethargic during the hot season, since they overheat very easily. If this is the case, see that he gets plenty of fluids and does not get dehydrated. Only exercise/walk him before dawn, or after sunset. Another thought is, this could be perfectly usual behavior for him, but you never knew it until you started working at home. My dog lies around all day too, but if I say the word "walk," or even just start putting on my walking clothes, she is suddenly full of zoom, and would help me get ready faster, if she could, lol!

Any time a dog's behavior changes for no obvious reason, your first action should be a trip to the vet. There are so many reasons, too numerous to list, that can cause lethargy. Just a few common ones; it could be infection, hormonal problems, joint pain, and kidney, heart or liver disease.
