Long story... lots of fights
We have a GSD who has been in our family for nearly 5 years along with her pup (GSD mix of some sort) and a Belgian Malinois.
The females (GSD and Mal) don't get along, and have had many surgeries to prove it. We've hired a behaviorist before, but our lifestyles are not consistent enough to stick to the plans.
Recently, during one of our moving/transition times, the GSD and her pup went to stay with others while we transitioned. Now, the two of them have started fighting while there. Our family is at whits-end, but we don't want to give up our dogs (they were all rescued and we can't bear to leave them to "family potluck" again in changing families). We're at a loss for how to make this work for them??? The Mal already had to move in with other family members until we settle in again... but it could be a year or more before our lives quiet down.
Any suggestions for how to help them cope with all the upheaval?
P.S. We're pretty sure the GSD was abused in her first home... her confidence was something we had to work on for the first couple of years until she slowly started cowering less and had fewer incidents of wetting herself when frightened. We also think she was far too young to have a litter of puppies and that this could be a huge factor in her mental state?
