I got a new dog this past weekend. He is a 1.5 yr old Dachshund. I was told that he was crate trained and has been in a crate during the day while the previous owners were at work. My first day at work (Monday) he was not in a crate because I did not have one till Tuesday. Monday he was fine, all he did was flip a rug over. He has cried a lot both days that I was not there. I am assuming it is because he is not use to his surroundings yet. I used a crate on Tuesday and after I got home from work I took him out of the crate on went for a walk. After I got back from the walk he would pee anytime I got near the crate it seems.

In the crate there is his blanket, a pillow of mine, a couple of toys and treats. I also leave a radio on.

I am assuming that it is because he is unsure of his surroundings and it is stress. I will take any suggestions on how to fix this.

hmmm is the crate too big and or open? They like a den maybe if you cover it. Make sure to clean up the pee smell good. Maybe the crate is not in a good spot for him? People lie all the time when rehoming pets- half the time that is why they are rehoming.........sadly

It will take time- he is confused and out of sorts
