Default Almost 2 year old Akita still destructive

Neutered akita, Sit Means Sit trained, and indoor/outdoor dog.

I have a 1.5 year old daughter who really enjoys Kuma, and Kuma for the most part is fine with our daughter. She is never left alone. And more importantly never left alone with Kuma. But, I am not always with my wife and daughter and Kuma.

Recently Kuma destroyed a kiddy wicker chair, dug a couple of holes in my yard, and a industry grade water hoes. Inside our house, he has only had 1 incident of destorying a baseball cap, but that's it. he'll be with us in the evening and sleep in the house through the night. when no one is around, he in the back yard.

Last week, Kuma opened his jaw to my daughter sweater and tore it. It's not the first time he's tried to put something in his mouth from me, my wife, or daughter. I've always seen it as he wants to play, but I need to address this more assertively and make sure this eventually comes to an end.

I have not been walking him regularly as i should.

So I know that the more exercise, the less hyperactive he'll be with us. But what else?

How old is this dog? How big is he already? If he's not yet big enough to be dangerously aggressive, grab a hold of his scruff, give him a firm (but gentle!) shake of the scruff, growl, and say, "No!" Do this every time he nips at you/your family members, and your clothes/other belongings. Then replace the item he was intending to chew up with something he is allowed to have, such as a favorite toy. And yes, you are right-- walking him daily will also help to prevent destructive behavior such as this. You must walk him every single day, for a minimum of 20 minutes when you are in a rush, and give him longer walks when you have more time. Write him into your day planner, if you have to. Pretend he is a very important client (in fact, so are you-- and it is Kumo's job to see that his humans get enough exercise to stay healthy so they can continue to take good care of him).
