Question HELP! New Puppy/Old Dog - Do I have to give away new puppy

Hey! I am a huge dog lover. I have had my dog Baxter for 3 years. He is a 3 yr. old male Papillion and only 7lbs. He has always been really dominate, but loves to play with his cousins (my sister has a Shiz-Tu male and Lhasa Poo male). So my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to get him a sister to play with and extend the family. We just recently got a 3 month old 9lbs. female Puggle...we have been wanting a puggle for over two years.

I've notice Baxter isnt as happy...even though we have given him extra attention, feed him first, take him out first, praise him for the smallest things. What bothers me, is making the puppy feel unloved. I would never want a puppy to feel that way.

Also, since the Puppy is bigger and is going to get a lot bigger than Baxter I am afraid she is going to hurt Baxter since she is playing really aggressive. Penning Baxter down on his back and bitting him on his I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!, legs, neck and ears. Baxter snaps back and snarls shows his teeth and I have never seen him act likes this EVER. It scares me. But she doesnt give up. I do not know whether to let them fight so the puppy knows her place. Or punish her or him.

I love Baxter so much that I do not want to make him unhappy or let him get hurt. I want this to work, but I do not want to raise a puppy who isnt getting enough attention. It has only been two days.

What do I do? Im going to the vet today to ask her about it as well.

Do I worry that Baxter can get hurt?

Yes... talk to your vet and also hire a trainer. It sounds like both your dogs could use training and a good behaviorist can help you with the relationship between the 2 dogs and how to deal with your larger pack.
