All of a sudden scared of me
I have a 2 year old female Corgi. She was a normal dog up until several months ago. When I call her she will look at me and then run and hide in her crate. My wife is home with her all day and as soon as she hears me come home from school she runs and hides in her crate. If we are in the living room on separate couches and I call the dog she will run and jump on my wife for "protection."
We saw an episode of the Dog Whisperer that said dogs can get behavior problems from not being walked. I will admit that we have gotten lazy and didn't regularly walk her for a while. It seems like this is about when her problem started. Sometimes she will do this to my wife too but it is a fraction of the amount that she does it to me. We have started taking her on hour long walks everyday in an attempt to help fix her. I know it won't turn her around instantly, but aside from taking her to a vet or dog shrink, it is all we can do.
Any other ideas?
I will also add that I have never physically punished her, only verbally scolded her and put her on timeout.
