Default Need advice on my irish setter.

we have a 6 month old irish setter male , who most of the time is really good . This all changes when we go outside , as soon as i leave the door he starts growling and barkingand people ( not dogs) his heckles are up , its driving me crazy , he barks when he heres someone come to the door but his fine when they come in... he has a problem when he has treats , he growls at my 8 year old if he comes near him , yet he will sit , give paw and lie down when he gives it to him ??????????? we got the breed because of it being well known for its tolerance with children and people in general i have read for hours on the net tried it when were out but nothing works ... !!! ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GRATEFULL ....

Hi, Have you tried putting your scent on his food and treats. When you feed him his kibble, try rubbing your hands on it and hand feeding him a few to train him to eat out of your hand. Put a leash on him when he is eating, put your hand near the bowl, if he growls, take the bowl away. This is how I trained my dog not to be aggressive around food. Hope this helps.

Would you consider enrolling your puppy in puppy school with your son being the handler?
