He is marking and showing dominance. Best thing to do since he is still young enough that it could alter much of the behavior is to have him neutered.
Unfortunately many do not understand this breed, they are not a toy breed but a true terrier so viewing them in the light of a small companion dog only creates more problems. They are not companion dogs nor were they created to be cute. They are ratters, fiercely independent (which most see as being stubborn) and are truly not a breed for the first time dog owner or for novices.
They require a dominant owner so as to avoid the issue you are now experiencing. I have raised, bred and rescued this breed for many many years.
The best thing you can do for him at this point would be to get him neutered. It will in all likelihood address most of the issue.
