please help
i have a couple problems. We got a male puppy shih tzu who is about 10 months old. We also have a male german/rottie mix who is 2 yrs old, a female brittany who is about 11 months old and a cocker/shih tzu mix who is 3 yrs old. The shih tzu, brittany, and german get along great with each other. But none of the three want anything to do with the cocker mix. They will not play with him, they wont eat or drink after him. They will all be together in me and my fiance's room but they wont in my mother in law's room. What could cause this? Also the shih tzu puppy has attached itself to me and my fiance and will not stay around my mother in law. We just got the dog 2 days ago and every time she trys to hold it it jumps down and runs off to our bedroom but it will let us hold it. Can someone please help us figure this all out.

Your post is a bit confusing.
What is your biggest problem?
And the thing with your mother in law I did not understand...
Sorry, please explain again.
How long do you have the cocker mix? Go to the vet and let your dog check upon communicable disease.

Am I understanding it right that there are 4 dog's here and 3 of them do not get along with one of them? Please come back and tell us more. Is the cocker mix afraid of the other's and afraid of your mother in law? Do the other's play with each other and does the cocker mix try to play with them? Please tell us more...

ok lemme try to explain this a little better. We had 3 dogs--a german shepherd, a brittany spaniel, and a cocker spaniel mix. We brought a puppy into the home for my mother in law who lives with us. The cocker spaniel mix is hers. The other two dogs are me and my fiance's.
Here are the problems.
1) the brittany, the new puppy and the german shepherd all get along great. They play, eat, drink from the same dish and sleep with each other. The brittany is the only female in the bunch. None of the dogs seem to like the cocker spaniel mix. They will not play with him and they will not drink from the same dish as him. What could cause this?
2) We got the new puppy for my mother in law. However the only ones he will come to is me and my fiance. We feed him, take him potty, and he sleeps in our room. No matter what we do, he will not stay in the same room as my mother in law for longer than two minutes unless she ties him up which I will not allow as it is mean. Is there anything in his past that may cause behavior like this to show up? We think his previous owners may have mistreated him cause of the condition we got him in. But I dont know if that has anything to do with him only wanting to be with me and my fiance.

where has the shih tzu gone???
In your first post there were 4 dogs, now there are only three. What happened with the missing?
...ah ok, I think I got it:
How was the relationship between them (your dogs and the dog from your mother) before the puppy entered the pack?
Did the behaviour change from the cocker or was the situiation similar to now?
Are you sure that the pack will not have contact with the cocker spaniel or is it maybe that the cocker doesn't want to be in contact with the new puppy and therefore with the other dogs?

it was the same thing before the new puppy came into the mix. The brittany and the german shepherd would play together and everything else but would not have anything to do with the cocker spaniel mix. The cocker spaniel is my mothers and the other two are me and my fiance's .
