Hi deannie24,
it sounds like your dog has some very established rituals.
It is your challenge to break this ritual, but not only this. I'm sure there are some more. Think what your dog is doing when you take the lead or the key?
What happenes, when you put your shoes on, or when you would like to go to bed? Is it nearly the same time when you go to bed?
All the rituals you have to break.
Go to bed at 8 at night next day at one a clock in the morning then at 10 in the night, and so on. That your dog gets a little confused.
Go to bed and stand up, got to bed and stand up go to bed, redress yourself and go outside with her.
Take the lead and don't go outside, but sit down have a cup of coffee or tea, go outside with her, when you normally would not do it.
Then wake her up when she has fallen asleep and go out with her. Give her something to do before you go to bed. I mean work with her so she has to use her little head, like Dr. Kawashiva for Nintendo DS, you know what I mean?
Find another place in the room for her crate an put it in another corner. During the day you can change that several times.
What you are doing is, to show your little dog that her live is played with your rules, not with hers. You have to act so weird, that she lays full attention on what you are doing and that there is a time for her and there is a time she has to be quiet.
Do it for a couple of days.
Try it and let us know if this functions.
