Question Neutered Male marking neutered female

Hi

I have had my rescued greyhounds Ivy and Wendel for nearly 2 years and 18 months respectively, both are neutered and house broken, and have lived happily together.

Wendel has just recently started peeing on Ivy, out on walks and in the yard, whenever she relieves herself. I have tried to check him but it seems once he starts he cannot stop.

Wendel and Ivy have been checked by the vet and both have no health problems.

Can any one suggest anything that may help, apart from walking/ and letting them out separately??????

Louise

Through this marking he shows that Ivy is his ressource.

Maybe he shows this behaviour in several ways. For example by pushing her away when you would like to stroke her?!
Or when feeding the dogs?

When you let them out, go with them and if Wendel wants to start peeing on Ivy, block this action. Go between them or stand in front of Wendel. When you get an eye contact, give a treat and open the way so he can show if he wants to mark Ivy again. If he does block again, if not give him a treat.

With this training you show you male dog, that your female dog is yours.
Provoke this situations and repeat this training so long as your male dog doesn't do it when you are with them. Then you can start to build up the distance.
