Default Wakes me up

Everyday my dog wakes me up early. He jumps on my bed and then minds his own business, but I have to keep an eye on him, since he has a chewing urge. But I need my sleep. What should I do?

Have you thought about crating your dog? I crate trained all of my furkids when they were puppies and they prefer their crates to my bed. They also go in their crates to get away from the hustle and bustle when too many people come visit. It's their cozy safe place.

My girls and I tend to be early risers so, they wake me up about 6:00 a.m. every morning. It's a habit we've gotten into. I haven't slept in for more than a decade! However, they both love to nap so, when I lay down with a book later in the day, they curl up close to me and go right to sleep.

I've just sort of adjusted myself to their preferences. They're the most important things in my life so, I'll admit, I spoil them...

I use the kitchen as a "crate". I lock him there when he wakes me and let him out when I'm done. Thanks!

Good luck trying to sleep in while having a dog ;-).

I think that crating would be a good idea - I always crated my pets as puppies and by the time that they were adults, they preferred to sleep in their crates at night!

I tried crates with both of my girls. It didn't work for either of them. I put in the heating pad, soft blankets, a clock wrapped in a towel...Bupkus!!! They both literally screamed for more than an hour until I finally couldn't stand it anymore and brought them into my bed. They slept like angels after that. I'd have to wake them to get them outside to pee!!!

I have Saint Bernards. I think it would be easier to put them in their own room than to get crates. I would need huge ones. Nut I don't have that problem. They sleep with me. One is a puppy so I take some his chew toys to bed with us too. It worked. He chews his bear instead if the bedspread.

try him to undergo crate training...
that would help you to have a better sleep...

My dog Brian do that to me also when i was in my parents house...
I always locked my room so that he can't enter...
But my dad open it and let my dog wakes me up...
BAD...lol
