Default 3 year old dog playing to rough with puppy

how do i make my 3 year old doberman relax on playing with my new 3 month year old westie ? he plays so rough that she gets hurt at times...is that normal or do i have to not let them play together until my westie gets older ?

I would make sure that I only allowed them around each other while supervised if I was you. I'm sure he doesn't mean to hurt the puppy, but just doesn't realize that he can cause some serious damage because of his size.

A large dog could hurt a puppy seriously without meaning to. Until this is resolved, they should NEVER be left alone together.

Hello. I have been a member for awhile but haven't been back for awhile. Too much stuff going on.

But I have the same situation. I have a female westie 1 & 1/2 years old and a 5 month female westie. The older really plays rough at times. It is concerning. I try to not let them alone too long without checking even though I am in the next room and can hear what is going on. Hopefully things will settle down.

It is worrysome.
