Default Pet Memorial Keepsakes - Cremains?

Hi Everybody

My name is Sara Jackson and I"m writing an article for a dog magazine on Cremain Jewelry keepsakes.

I want to know if any of you have any opinions on this, if you would consider it, or have done it. If you have obtained keepsakes using your pet's ashes, why and what do you think of the result?

Please let me know. I also need permission to use your names in the article.

Thank you

Smile pets ashes

When I cremate my animals i just leave them in the urns and i have a special shelf in my curio cabinet with their urns along with pics and little write ups about them. Its like their own little cemetery.

Are jewelry made of glass or crystal that is infused with a small portion of your pet's ashes.

How much is it to cremate your pet? I wouldn't mind keeping an urn in the house, but to have the remains made into a keychain seems kinds morbid. I love my pets, but i don't think i want to carry my dead pet everywhere with me. He will always be in my heart. He doesn't need to be made into a keychain also.

Default I agree with lunareclipse.

The whole idea of having a beloved pet made into jewellery is really off putting to me.

To answer your question, when you bring your pet to the vet to be euthanized, part of that fee goes toward the cremation. However, in that situation, numerous animals are cremated together. You can request to have your pet cremated individually and the ashes placed in an urn which is then returned to your vets office for you to pick up. The charge for this service is more but, I can't tell you how much because the fee differs from country to country, province to province and state to state. This is a question you'd have to ask your own vet in order to get accurate information in your particular area.

For me the idea of cremating your pet and infusing its ashes in a jewelry is nice...
In that case you can always remember your loving pet...

Just IMO...

I have always thought it was interesting as well. I've seen services where they will take the remains and process them into a diamond (it takes quite a bit of time), and then make that into a necklace for you. I think it's a neat idea.

I think it is the best option...to keep memories alive...there is a lots of way to cremate your pet... like wood urn, cremation urn,Wrought or Fabricated Urns and many more...

I agree with lunareclipse's post on this matter. I think having part of their ashes in a piece of jewelry is just plain creepy and actually a bit disrespectful to the pet imo.

I definitely plan on having my dogs cremated when that dreaded time comes but they will be put in their own separate urns. I plan to check out where I can have them 'stored' for lack of a better word so that I may go visit them when I want as I don't think I could handle having them in my house. I'd be bawling every time I'd walk past them.

Does anyone know..... do cemeteries do this? I guess I mean do they have a section for pets?

Maybe it's best to just have the pet's ashes in an urn, to preserve the memory of our loving dogs.
