My dogs are fighting
Last night I had to bring one of my dogs to the Vet, Roxy my Schnoodle. Because one of my other dogs, my Golden Jayden, attacked her.
This is not the first time that Jayden has been fighting with one of my other dogs. I rehomed another Schnoodle I had because they were fighting. I thought it was him starting all of the fights.
But, last night we were out in the throwing the ball for her. She accidently ran into one of the other dogs, my Toy Fox Terrier, Nicky. So Nicky started screaming. So of course all the other dogs come over to see whats happening. I picked up Nicky, turned to go in the house. Thats when Jayden attacked Roxy. Jayden would not let go of her. She was swinging her back and forth. Roxy was screaming. My Husband came out and was able to get Jayden off Roxy. I think maybe she would have killed her if we didn't get them separated.
We rushed Roxy to the vet. She has some pretty bad bite wounds on her neck that required stitches and a couple of drains.
I can't possibly let them be together again. They have never fought prior to this fight. After we found a home for my other Schnoodle, last fall. Everyone has been getting along fine. Now this.
I'm not going to be able to keep Jayden. I can't trust her. I have other small dogs, smaller than Roxy. If it was one of them she would have broken their necks.
It was heartbreaking enough rehomeing my other Schnoodle. Now I'm going to have to do this again. I had to make the decsion last fall on which dog I should rehome, the schnoodle or the golden. I choose the Schnoodle. I quess I choose the wrong one. Now I have to rehome the Golden as well.

Is it at all possible that your golden attacked because she thought that the other dog had hurt one of the smaller ones? I know it doesn't change the situation but it just might explain the behaviour. My senior border collie never had pups and, when I brought a little JRT puppy home, Bailey decided she was "hers". She was very over-protective of the puppy. I had a couple of close calls when Bailey decided that some other dog was a threat to little Lara. Thankfully, Bailey is "all talk and no action." However, I'm now very careful when they're outside and Lara is playing with another dog because Bailey "watches like a hawk." It could be that your golden feels she needs to protect the smaller dogs.

Hello my two dogs almost killed each other today they have been fighting almost everyday but we always manage to seperate them. Today one of the dogs bit the other one in the eye he grabed himself from his cheek and eye once we seperated them my chihuahas eye was bleeding badly. He was injured so much we had to take him to the vet. i am so sad i do not want them to kill each other. One of my dogs is 3 yrs old and my other dog is only 1. I do not want to give them away but im afraid im going to have to if they keep at it the vet is going to have to stich his eye give him anti-biotics. The vet suggested to neutered both dogs would that help at all? please do give me suggestions i am desperate and real sad i love them both
Thanks

having 2 intact male dogs is asking for problems. Especially if there is a bitch in season. You do not have to see the bitch, they can smell her. This will generally result in territorial issues which appears is what is going on with yours. Neutering will in most cases alleviate this problem.

If Jayden is an intact male this is not that uncommon. A male will attack a female if it deems she is a threat to his pack and territory.

similar problem
We have 4 neutered male dogs at home. Last night as I was letting the border collie, Yoshi, and the two labs, Gus and Harvey in and Bosco the rotty mix out; Gus decided to attack Yoshi and Bosco joined in. Luckily we were able to separate them before Yoshi was hurt and just as a precaution my daughter took him to the vet today to be sure of that. He has a minor scrape on the inside of his back leg, he has been given antibiotics to ward off infection. My question is if Bosco, (my dog) is allowed out of kennel when the others are put in, ie. mealtime, would this cause enough jealousy to cause this type of situation? We kennel them when we are gone during the day and during meal time. My other question is, as I have only owned male dogs in my lifetime, would the heat cycles of the female dogs next door cause a rise in aggression/testosterone? They have two females that they breed quite regularly as they sell the puppies, I am assuming since they don't have 2 litters at a time that the females have separate heat cycles. This, in my mind anyway, would explain why about 2x a year our dogs have this problem. Any thoughts?
