Won't walk! Urgent help!!
It's been 3 weeks since my 4-month old Westie had his last vaccine and I've been taking him out for 2 weeks. The porblem is that in the last days he stopped walking. We would make a tour of a tiny park nearby every morning, he was pretty obediant.
But in the last days he just wouldn't walk. He's pulling back, siting like a mule, smelling everything on the ground, but his behaviour changed. I don't have the eneergy to pull him. What is happening with him?
P.S. My neighbour gave me a leash which you attach to the neck & body. The first day I tried it on him, he walked fine, but the following day the problem started. Is there a connection between his behaviour and the leash?

try to relaxe the leash and not pull. put some treats down so he has to walk to get them.
another thing it could be the new leash. can you try go back to the old one you had?

try to play with him, ask him to go bring the ball or ask him to catch it, if he loves playing game. get him treats. how is his eating habits if you found any change consult a vet might be his legs are troubling him.

Hello Panda,
did your dog have had contact with other dogs while you were in the park with him?
Did you walk all the way on the leash or did you let him walk alone because he has shown good obedience?
How does he react when you face Jogger and other dogs. Does he look at you outside? Why have you started so late to socialize your dog to environment?
His behaviour has nothing to do with the leash, it has to do with his experinces he made outside and that he does not trust you leading him.
He has to know that when he is going out with you, that he can come back home safely.
You have to find out why your dog feels unsure with you then you can change what really helps your westie.

Hi ,
One thing i have found that works is if you tickle their bums while your walking.... I actually learnt it off the dog whisperer so i cant take the credit ha ha...
During the episode he had a small dog, older dog , who would not walk when on a leash, he would just stand there and pull back on the leash.. Ceaser suggested the owner walk beside him and tickle his bum hahaha... it worked for this dog and has also worked for my boxer lab cross who was having the same problem a couple weeks ago..
I cant honestly say why it works but it gets them excited and they start to move hahaha... it only took me a day to get bella walking normal again
Hope it helps - i know it sounds weird hahaha.

YYYYYeeesss... I can imagine that your nieghbours think this way
Ok everyone who wants an excited dog outside can do this.
This is not my way because I don't want an excited dog outside or a dog which is afraid of hands but I prefer a concentrated and motivated dog who is willing to do something with me!
