He wont stop marking
Ok, my boy Brady has always had a thing about marking on things. I was told to get him fixed and he would calm down on this, if not stop completely. He has been fixed for almost 2 yrs and still he keeps marking.
Does anyone have a clue why he keeps doing this? We have no other dogs that come in the house. We just recently bought a new recliner for our family room and behold the marking monster comes along and sprays all over it.
Any ideas on how to get him to stop??

you could put a doggie diaper on him. in expensive way to do this is buy baby pullups and cut a hole in the back for the tail. or for about 20 dollars you can buy a cloth wrap that wraps around the lower extremities and velcro taped to itself.. you can make one also. however the dog will rub up against everything to pull it off, where as with the diaper they cant. it does take a few days to get them use to it but it does work.if you keep putting it back on them.

Vets are incorrect when they tell you neutering stops unwanted marking behavoir and aggression...when in most cases it makes it worse. Once the dog has started marking..it is now considered a learned behavoir and it needs to be stopped by not neutering..but by you correcting it.

Thank you for that info. Now that I think about it. He has gotten a little worse and he is also more aggressive towards other dogs that visit the house. He has always been aggressive with other males around our home and yard, but is fine at the dog park. Now he seems to be getting aggressive with females around the house. Ahhh time to figure out a plan for this ole boy, lol.

Neutering screws up the body balance by taking the hormones away. This day in age most dogs are adapted to it. But you get the odd few the do not. My one Malinois is neutered and he was fine up until after his neuter. Got more aggressive, loss bladder control and developed allergies including reaction to the rabies vaccine.
There are alot of websites out there that explain the negative aspects for neutering. The only thing neutering and spaying in my opinion is good for..is unwanted litters. Yeah males cant get testicular cancer or females pyrametria (sp?) but it increases the risk for other diseases. This is how I view it..if God when he created this wonderful creatures wanted us to spay and neuter...would he of put the dangly bits there? No he wouldnt of.
I can provide you with links if you would like them..just let me know

I wouldnt waiste your money personally. That one link says that 1 percent of intact females die from pytromtrea (sp?) and 23% of spayed females die from it...could of been mammory tumours too...cant remember..too tired. Vet are all in the end a business..of course they will tell you to spay or neuter because they can turn around when something goes wrong down the line from that surgery and blame it on something else...lol

Just my opinion but, preventing even more dogs from ending up in shelters to be euthanized or gassed because there aren't enough homes for them is plenty enough reason to spay or neuter.

Thats one of the reasons my boy Brady was fixed to begin with, was to prevent puppies. Pasha and Brady threw 3 beautiful litter of puppies, all planned. I just didnt have the heart when it came time for them to go to their new homes. (Me and the kids got so attached to them) After talking to my vet for a few months about it, I was told that by fixing him, it would calm his aggression down and he would slow down on his marking which he did not.
I guess there is pros and cons to alot of things. I dont plan to breed May May, so we are talking with our vet again about having her spayed. We havent come to a final choice yet. Im glad this time I wont be going in blind and know what the pros and cons are to having this done.

To me unwanted puppies were not caused by me. I would rather have an intact dog that lives a full healthy live with his dangly bits attached. When I way out the pros and cons plus having already own and owned 2 dogs that the neuter screwed up...I would rather have a healthy dog rather than worry about the dog overpopulation. Unless every single dog in this world was order to be spayed/neutered and in a year I saw a drastic decrease in dogs being euthanized in shelters....I still wont spay/neuter.
My view is clearly different. Dogs were here first, same with when someone goes swimming in the ocean and gets attacked by a shark...they authorities go out and kill that shark. Not fair because we are in their territory. Any neutered dog that developed bone cancer I bet my top dollar that the majority of them were neutered, but the vet can turn around and say no no he just got it...well yeah he got it because of his neuter and lack of hormones. Everyone thinks vets are the best and know everything when really they only want money first then animals second.
Of course when I go in and ask my vet about ACV in his food daily he will look at me like im nuts and convince me to buy something of his. Or RAW, of course he wont like it, he wants to sell me Science Diet because he knows that food is not good but wont kill the dog and the dog will require future treatment for something caused by that food and boom it creates revenue.

It's too bad that you can't find a vet who combines traditional medicine with herbal and homeopathic treatments. I'm very happy with my girls Dr.s because they use a combination of treatments. You get the best of both worlds.
BTW, all of my dogs and cats have been spayed or neutered and they all lived to a ripe old age.
