help!! my dog is starting to bite
i have a 4 month old Siberian Husky.and i am having a lot of trouble with him. this has been going on for a while. every time we try to play with him he is all ways biting us. i read some where this is called mouthing. i talked with my vet and he said to ignore him. but it is getting worse. every time my daughter lets him out of his kennel he nips her in the face, and when we have company over he is biting them as well. and know when he is eating or with a chew toy he try's to bite us and he is not playing. i am also worried about him not being very cuddly with us. i sure hope someone can help me i am worried we got a bad dog. i would appreciate any help.

The problem I see more often than not is puppies leaving the dam at 7 or 8 weeks and people assuming that a dog is weaned as soon as it is on solid food. Unfortunately this is not correct. I puppy is generally not totally weaned until socialization is taught by the dam which occurs generally from ages 7 to 11 or 12 weeks. In that time she teaches bite inhibition where she will reprimand the pup for biting her or litter mates. In this case your best bet is to shun her and tell her no, many will try crying out in pain which is what a litter mate will do. The other option that is common is to shove a chew toy in her mouth to replace your hand. Mouthing is also a can be a form of teething. It is something that needs to be stopped as soon as possible to avoid it only getting worse.
Good Luck.

Hi Mr.Bad SL1,
you need urgent help by you at home.
There are too many factors.
The only advice I can give over 1000s of miles is not to ignore your dog.
When you ignore your dog he can not learn what to do better than biting and nipping. And maybe it is a self praising behaviour so he only has the chance to get worse and worse with his attitude.
How did it start, what happened and how long does he show this?
How old is your daughter and do you still give her the job to let him out of the kennel?
When he ist biting, why does he has something like toys an food for his own, without human controll?
There are many things you have to change with a professoinal by your side and go to the pet doc. for a blood picture and don't ask a vet. for a solution about behavioural problems, they are not specialist.

Hi
My dog stopped biting when she was around 9-10 months old. Playbiting is okay but you need to correct her when she does bite you.
When she bites next time...make a very loud YELP sound instead of "No". Then, turn away from the dog and ignore her. She will get the hint quickly enough.
Stop Dog Biting : When your dog has his mouth on you, it is important NOT to jerk away. Jerking away will cause you to get scratched. More importantly, sudden and quick movements may make your dog think it is a fun game and reinforce his biting behavior. This could ultimately result indog aggression.
Thanks
Have a nice time a head
