Default 1 year old lab food aggression

Hi,
I am new to the site and new to being a dog owner as well. I have a one year old black lab named Moose. He is a good dog but we have one big problem with him: Food aggression towards other dogs. He is not aggressive towards humans, only other dogs. He is even aggressive with other dogs when it comes to chew toys. I have another black lab back home and when my dad went to give him a raw-hide, Moose took it from him. So I took it from Moose to give to my other dog and he attacked the other dog. He has done with this other dogs a couple more times as well. He also does it in the field when hunting. If he drops a bird and another dog comes to get it he freaks out and will take them to the ground. Someone please tell me this can be fixed, I love to hunt with him but don't even want to take him out with other dogs because of this. And I don't even like going back home and seeing my other lab because of the aggression issues.

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Normally a dog should know that everything doesn't belong to him but to the human and that all the dog may have is a friendly meant loan to the dog from owners side.

In your case something went wrong because your dog clearly shows that he has the oppinion that everything is his own. And if the owner portions things and gives something to another dog he will fetch back this part by using aggressions to defend what he means is his resource. Through this behavior he shows his status and position and that the decision how much and when someone gets belongs to him.

Every learned behavior can be fixed but I guess therefore you will need a professional therapist.
