Default Aggression towards other dogs

Hi!

I'm the owner of two female malinois, both approximately two years old. We found them as strays around two years ago, and they have adapted very well to us. The only problem we have is that they are very aggressive towards other dogs and walks, and while they are usually very obedient, they seem to lose all touch with reality once they see another dog. We went to obedience training with them for almost a year, and they still couldn't get used to the proximity of other dogs. Do you have any tips I could try?

You know, I have the same issue with my stray/rescue dog(Thai Ridgeback 7 years old). We have recently introduced a new puppy into our home and after an initial scare(she snapped at the puppy, no harm done) they seem to be gettting along fine so I have to assume its just related to unknown dogs, maybe just as a result of fending for themselves??? Anyway I just wanted to say if you do find any good info about this, please share!

Doesn't matter how obedient a dog is, it can have inappropriate behaviour.
Because obedience has to do with training a dog, something the owner shows but at the same time there are some situations where a dog makes experiences of its own without the acknowledgment of the holder.
This is where and how problem behaviour occurs.

You have found them as strays and you do not know what they have learnt during this period of time living without a human on the street.
The next thing is you have two dogs and the communication between both of them is so pretty smooth selected that we humans have nearly no chance to seperate it or recognize/detect the aggression towards other dogs in the beginning. Malis tend to show displacement activity and this is the next thing you should be aware when training them with other dogs.

Go and look for a professional trainer you can work with, alone with two of those strong dogs in their instincts is nothing for a holder to sort it out of its own.

The only advice I can give to you over thousand of miles is: take one dog after the other for a walk. It is more easy to handle but will not solve the issues.
