Thats a very interesting behavior. Have you ruled out all health problems? That would be my first suggestion, being that this is a new behavior (right?) since dogs really mainly communicate through body language its one of 2 things I can think of, a health problem (I would ask the vet for a CBC, urinalysis and a fecal test) or a change in the environment, new pet, re-arrange of furniture, new outdoor animals (wild or domestic, maybe a neighbors). If you are confident that absolutely nothing has changed I would highly reccomend some testing at the vet. Any other physical changes in your dog? Stool, urine, limp or pain anywhere?
