Default through the trash!

My dogs both went through the trash last night in the middle of the night! It was terrible. The trash can was sealed and they managed to eat all of the chicken bones! They're both puppies; what can I do about it?

Place the trash out of their reach.

Well, for one, you could try a vet! Chicken bones are known for splintering in the dogs' throat; if your pups are showing any signs of discomfort (i.e: Coughing, gagging, drinking more than normal...) I'd suggest a vet trip in order.

I'd first suggest dog crates; if they can get into the trash there's nothing stopping them getting to cables, wires, chewing fabrics, lino flooring...All of which could harm your dogs, and cost you a few hundred quid, which nobody wants to pay.

Crates are actually a place dogs like; it's like a comfort zone. It keeps them safe and is comfier when they're trying to sleep. Separate crates, obviously! Puppies have a habit of weeing and pooing in their crates, so make sure to take them out last thing at night if you decide on crates. Dog carriers aren't crates, they're a temporary transportation option. You can buy dog crates of all sizes from your local animal store/shop.

You can buy bins which easy-open lids, they're easy for people to open and near to impossible for animals. You can also buy safety locks that I'm sure you could fix to a bin.
Good luck.
