Dog gets aggressive during fetch
Hello, my dog is 1.5 years old and is a spayed female, 55 lbs. husky/shepherd mix. She is extremely high energy and I run her off leash on the beach about 5 miles a day.
She has developed a behavior and I'm bumping into problems with it. She doesn't play fetch much at all, but often times when other dogs and their owners are playing she aggressively chases and snarls at the dogs playing. It also happens when other dogs bark a lot, she reacts by barking, approaching, and sometimes biting. She is not a fighting dog so the aggression has not resulted in an official "fight" but comes close. When she is in this state, she does not respond to commands and becomes very excitable.
What would be a good technique to teach her when she's off leash to keep the level of play mellow? I've tried supervising fetch playtime and she becomes a one-track mind.

Is it when she's off leash in general or only when you bring a fetching toy? Off leash in general would indicate a general aggression issue but only when fetching with a toy could indicate possessive aggression.

As I understand your post, she gets aggressive when other owners are playing fetch with their dogs. Have you tried bringing a ball and playing fetch with her yourself?

The way I see it, she is a bit of a "bully" and doesn't know how to play nice. And if she continues to act this way, she will be put in her place by a dog. Personally, I would take her out of that situation. What I mean is, she acts up like that, then it's time to go home. No more play.
You say she doesn't play fetch much. I'm assuming with you?
Have you tried to have a friend come over with their dog? This way here it would be a one-on-one dog playtime. You and your friend start playing fetch with the dogs. See what happens.

Sound like the problem could be one of two more things...
Dominance???
Jealous of other dogs being around her owner???
