Default PLEASE HELP* Incident has triggered a sudden change in behavior to 9 y/o*

Hi,
I need some advice urgently please.
My partner and I are currently travelling in a caravan with our 2 beautiful staffy's. We have mother and daughter, mother is 11&1/2 years old and daughter is 9 years old.
We have been on the road for 5 months now and so far both have been fantastic travellers.
The problem I have is with 9 y/o daughter who has suddenly developed a change in behavior after a recent incident with the mother.
The mother was swept off a river crossing into some whitewash and the current was too strong for her to swim out of so my partner had to jump in and get her out.
Since then the daughter has developed some sort of anxiety which I think is separation anxiety. She has started to persistently yelp if we leave her in the van or tied up out the front of it (both have not been a problem in the past). She also does it when we are around water and either one of us leaves her side, in fact we don't even have to be around water, it seems to be more if we leave her side, even only a couple of meters away.
I don't think the problem is with water itself as she still loves swimming and happily plays in the water with her mum away from us.
She is normally quite a laid back dog where not much really bothers her so this behavior is really worrying me as it is getting worse by the day.
I really don't know what to do as it definitely seems it is the incident that has triggered this so i'm not sure how to reassure her.
Please any advice to stop this behavior as soon as possible would be appreciated as I'm sure someone will soon complain about the noise (neighbors are close in caravan parks) and I need my gorgeous little girl to be happy again.
Thanks.

Smile Welcome to the forum!

Wish I could help! Just wanted to tell you not to 'abandon' the forum if you don't get a reply right away. I am sure someone may have some answers but this is the weekend and the forum has a tendency to be slow then. You might try the search box in here in the mean time--At top of page(s) in this forum, in the blue strip. Find the white word: Search and click it. Not sure what words to try--maybe scared dog or traumatized dog or dog anxiety.
