Default Old Dog Can't See New Dog Door flap

My twelve year old pomerian has sight only in one eye. I had to purchase a new doggie door and the flap is darker than the old one. She cannot see to go out or come back in. She went to the bathroom right in front of it last night. Help..........

Can you cover the dark door/flap with something---White tape, etc.-----Put a big white X to cover width and length of the door-----Maybe attach a curtain type thing over/above the flap that the dog could see---light colored material.--Prob. want this in 2 pieces like a curtain (opening in center)

Maybe if you wait a day or two (being as you just installed it) your dog will figure it out as blind dogs usually do after a while---knowing where stationary things are, etc. I take it that you installed it where the old door was! Otherwise the ideas I gave in my 1st post might work but if it were me I would wait and see as this tape could be a hard thing to get off, etc. if you ever wanted to. The curtain would be no problem as it could be removed easily enough but for the initial 'work' involved in making it.---And of course you wouldn't want a curtain on the exterior part. (Use white tape there--but wonder if it would have to be weather-proof tape to weather the elements). If as a last resort for the exterior side--some kind of 'safe' paint in an X.
