Question Fly biting? Seizures?

Hi all. Lately, my 3 year old dog (collie mix) has been fly biting and snapping his teeth out of the blue. He does it a couple of times a day. No apparent flies or flying bugs in my home. He seems to "snap" out of it if I call his name, but I'm very worried that this may be seizures as I've read on line? How does one diagnosis this or does the vet just go off of what I tell him (he prob wont do this in the vet's office)?

Thanks for your responses!

It MAY be seizures, but I doubt it. My oldest saint bernard did that and it turned out to be a problem with her eyesight. She was seeing little floaty things like humans see sometimes. You can take your dog to the vet to know for sure, but since your dog responds when you call it's name, I doubt it's seizures. One of my saint bernards has epilepsy and I learned that when a dog is having a seizure, it cannot hear you or see you while it is having one. So the fact that your dog responds to it's name tells me that it is probably an eyesight problem.

My foster Pekingese is a fly biter. She has been diagnosed with it being a seizure. She was on a medicine because of her having neck/disc surgery. This medicine is used for seizures also. Once we took her off of it she started fly biting really bad.....so she is now back on it. Check out this link: google fly biting . I could not ad the link to this message......it got kicked off.

I want to know why we have no links until 50 posts rule. Some links I really would like to read. Anyone have an answer for this?

It was put in place to weed out the spammers.

Is there any way we have it lowered from 50 posts to 10 posts? 50 seems a little ridiculous.

That's been tried and the forum was over run with new threads containing spam links.

How about 25 posts? Or how about we have it where a moderator has to approve a link before it's posted.

I have no issue with that but the decision has to be made by the Admin.

Being one of the newbies to the forum, I think 50 posts is fair.
If everyone is here for the same reasons as I am (love the fur kids), then no one should mind waiting. All good things come to those who wait.
Unless your out for a walk with your two large dogs and there is some neat smelling grass up ahead, then there is no time to wait. We MUST smell it NOW!! LOL.
