Question I don't know what to do!

Well where to start. I have two dogs. One's a Jack Russel that is 9 years old and then I have a Yorkie that is 2 years old whom I have recently been giving to by my sister for Christmas. And both are males. But my Jack has been fixed but the Yorkie hasn't. My Jack is house trained and wont pee or poop in the house unless he actually has to go really bad and when we aren't around(at the house). Anyways the Yorkie is always peeing in the house. But he isn't fixed I'm thinking about maybe getting him fixed but I've also thought about that's not so much the problem because my sister said he use to be in her house as well but not so bad. But the problem is I've never really house trained a dog before I could really use some advice esp. since he is two years old.... Thanks!

I would suggest crate training him and only taking him out when someone is right there with him and do not let him out of your sight when he is out. Take him outside on a regular schedule and when he does his business give him a high value treat that he only gets when he pottys out side and act like he has done the best thing in the world I mean really get excited telling him good boy and petting him then he will come to understand potty out side means a great treat and a potty party. LOL

As Gingersmom says, there is nothing to beat constant, close supervision when it comes to toilet training. If he was good for your sister then chances are he needs to learn where and how he is meant to go in your house. You also have the possibility that he is marking to show dominance over your dog so it is worth considering castration.

You will have to make sure you get rid of all the urine smell in the house---You may think you have cleaned it up good but a dog can smell many times better then we humans. And if you have used any cleaner with ammonia--That smells like urine to the dog---You need a different cleaner!! If the dog smells any trace of urine/ammonia--He will continue to mark there!

Arrow Getting Rid of Urine Smells/Stains So Dog Doesn't 'Go' There Again!

Hey! I just happened to come up on this article in my Drs. Foster and Smith email I get: Stain & Odor Sanitation Selection Guide: Dog Stain & Odor Removal

May explain better and give you some ideas for getting rid of urine smell and stains so your dog doesn't continue to pee in your house where it has done it before.
