Separation Anxiety when in her crate
I have a 5 year old female lab mix. She was absolutely perfect in her crate until we had some construction done on the house last year. Since then she has become a terror when left alone during the day in her crate. She has become an escape artist and has been destroying the wire type crates in the process and it continues to get worse. We've tried low level calming meds and that actually makes it worse. If we allow her to roam then she starts to eat doors, walls, and pretty much anything. Funny thing is when we are home she is perfectly happy to go in her crate and sleep. We have another male lab mix that is more than happy to stay in his crate but when the female escaapes she will let the male out.
Any suggestions? I'm concerned because she is working at the crate so much she is starting to hurt herself.
