Exclamation Orphaned Puppies and lactating Aunt

Hello everyone. I hope someone can give me some insight. Unfortunately, we lost our dear Zorra on Monday after complications giving birth and a c-section. Four of the babies were saved, which we are bottled feeding currently. We lost one this morning. Where she was staying, she was kenneled with her sister. Previous litters would suckle of from their Aunt. The Aunt has never had a litter and is not spayed. She has, though, filled with milk. Does anyone know the chances of her nursing her nephews? I don't mind hand feeding, but if it could help all of them, that would be great. It is also difficult since we both work full time and there aren't that many people that feel comfortable bottle feeding. Any information would be appreciated!!

I think it would be worth a try to get her to feed the pups but only if she can be supervised. You can't leave her alone with the puppies.

Thank you for your response, cigwyllt. It's kinda what I was thinking. The remaining puppies are starting to get the hang of the bottle so it's not so bad and I am wearing less and less of the formula. It is just nerve-wracking, but definitely worth it

It must be heartbreaking to have lost your bitch. Was it her first litter?

Yes, extremely heartbreaking. It was her third litter. She was scheduled to be spayed since she had such a hard time the second time, but managed to escape her kennel and was caught. They were keeping a close eye on her. Her last litter took 18 hours, so they knew there would be problems, but never anticipated things going bad so, so quickly. Thank you for your inquiry...
