Outgoing to scared in one day
Hello everyone. Very new to the forum. I've read up on scared puppies and hope it all helps with mine.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. My puppy is about 10 weeks old. Got him at 6 weeks and from day one very outgoing and playful. All of a sudden today he got a fright from a clothes horse (empty) falling down and since then has been terrified. He is not hurt or anything but whimpers and shakes like he is scared. He is also not playing. It's really bizarre. I got home from work and can't believe it's the same puppy as yesterday.
Has anyone had this before?? He's due for more shots so a vet check is coming up. I just want the playful puppy back that we had yesterday.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Lisa

Just be very calm and matter of fact in your dealings with him. The more you sympathise and fuss the more likely he is to think that there is something to worry about.

thank you for your reply
I will check how he is when I get home tonight. It was really totally bizarre how he went from one thing to another in a matter of hours.
Thanks again
Cheers

an update
he is back to being completely normal today. Something must have really frightened him yesterday, and he must have slept it off. Back to being the playfull puppy again.
It was a very weird experience and as I haven't had a pup in almost 30 years, I hadn't really come across it before.
BTW, this is a great forum, heaps of info..
cheers

Welcome to the forum!
Good to hear that your puppy is okay. What is his name? What kind of dog is he? You got him at 6 weeks old---a little soon to be away from his mother and siblings--maybe needs more socializing? Do you have any pics to share of the little guy?
Glad you like the forum too--Hope to see you around. And if you have other questions arise--'just give a holler!' I'm sure there are enough members here who can try their best to answer them.

Hey there,
yes 6 weeks was too young I thought too. However we'd been lookin for ages, they came up. He didn't even cry away from his mates.
He is a white ball of fluff, shizu maltese. I am generally not a small fluffy dog person (having labradors and rottys) but I have two very much part of the family pussy cats, so wanted a small dog.
His name is Eddie (after Eddie McGuire - yes we're collingwood fans lol)
(I can't seem to post any pics of him, sorry, I've only got 3 posts, I need 50..)
Cheers
Lisa

You can post pics now: It tells you how in the dog forum rules! But here is a pasted message that Yogi had entered a while back: If you scroll down below the post in your "reply" you will see another box.
"additional options". Click on manage attachments and search your computer for the pics you want to download. Finish by scrolling down and clicking on "submit". (You don't need 50 posts first either.)
There does seem to be a problem lately in this forum on a lot of members not being able to get their pics through but it works for some and not others BUT you are permitted the same option, new member or not!

Hello there again
I've tried the pic uploading option that's been suggested however it still won't work. Upload fails all the time, I resized the pic to smaller so it would be OK, but still failed.
So..
you're going to have to believe me when I say he's a ball of white fluff with black/brown ears.. some say he looks like a panda. hehehe
He's damn cute.
he's been on the lead walking and he absolutely loves it. He trots along like a little pro. We're off to get his next injections this saturday. Him and the two cats will make the trek to the vet.. interesting times. hehe
Cheers
Lisa
