Question Aggression towards anything that moves...

I am having small problems getting my dog Charlie to greet other dogs nicely, I don’t know why he seems to go after other dogs when he sees them, but it’s not just dogs it’s people, cars… really anything that moves.

I have gotten to the point where I believe it’s just excitement that he just doesn’t know the right way to “greet” what he’s going for. I came to this conclusion because when the people don’t react to how he acts in a negative way Charlie goes ahead and jumps on them a few times and then settles down. However when it’s with dogs the other dog or the owner of the other dog gets nervous and then Charlie like freaks out and starts barking and baring teeth.(he doesn’t have this problem with his brother). This is the part that I have the problem with the most. Does anyone know how I can fix this? (By the way the breeder he came from had a bunch of dogs and they all were together and hung out n played together)

It could be aggression or it could be just poor socialisation skills and bad doggy manners. My parents had a lovely dog who was as soft and friendly as you could wish but he had no clue how to behave with other dogs and people when he was out. I always likened him to a little boy attending a girly birthday party - he just didn't have the skills or experience to sit down and play nicely, he wanted to run and jump and wrestle.

Really your best bet would be to take him to a training class where he can meet other dogs in a controlled environment with a trainer or behaviourist who can tell you when to intervene and when to let the dogs carry on.

Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog it's too dark to read!

Cigwillt is right trainning class, in a controlled environment with a trainer is a must. We have dogs like this in the trainning I attend all the time. Having your dogs attention on you and following comands helps your dog learn good behavior.
