Hello All, I have a 2 mos. old Akita, I've had her for 2 weeks. We live on a farm and she actually came from one although they had only been outside once. She is from a litter of 12. She will not go outside. she sits on the back step and cries and howls, its pitiful. When we go out with her she runs around and will play but doesn't seem very curious about her surroundings. She pees on puppy pads(alot) but has taken to pooping in one area of the living room not on a pad and at night. She is not shy at all around us and is quite smart. I've given her treats when she pees outside with us and tried putting her out for short intervals several times a day. What can I do! I can't have a large dog in the house using puppy pads! I've had an Akita before and never had this occur. Please help!!!

Poor little puppy! She's obviously not had the best start in life, she was not socialised as she should have been and taken from her mother and the litter far too early.

She is far too young for you to be putting her outside on her own. You need to stay outside with her when you put her outside - every hour or so - there are lots of tips on house training here on the forum.

Go outside with her, play with her out there. Give her lots ad lots of attention and make outside a really positive place for her to be.

You also need to be sure to feed her on a schedule and get her outside within 15-30 minutes after she eats or drinks..If you keep then on a strick feeding and potty schedule Akita's housebreak pretty quickly..At least all of mine have..Seigi was housebroken in 3 weeks!
