Interesting theory. Would they still do that for pee that wasn't their own?
I don't understand why you are trying to interfere in a completely natural behaviour that hurts noone. I believe an animal is to be respected for what he is. He is not meant, nor should be expected, to comply to your aesthetic standards, he isn't a "little human". As long as his behaviour is natural and not endangering anyone or anything then punishing him for doing what comes naturally to him I feel is unjust.
Same as above. |

Hi..i am new at this Dog Forum..still trying to figure out font size, colors, etc.
But in response to your post..i totally agree..that is what got me to google in looking for why dogs lick other dogs urine. Mine does it all the time and seems to thoroughly enjoy it..and yes he mouth 'quivers'..which is why i knew
after i realized nothing was wrong with him, that he liked it. On our walks he will lick a blade of grass from one end to the other just taking his time..then
'mark it' afterwards..i thought at first maybe he was making sure all the other dogs urine was really gone before he marked his !! i still think it is a combo of both..sometimes he will lick a females urine and start sneezing, my neighbor who has a female dog when mine was doing that just said casually,
"Oh..it is nothing, they sometimes just get a reaction to it"..and that was that! So i say..enjoy..it's a dog thing!
