Default What's he saying?

Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.
He'll want something, and I'll walk past the door, if he's not sitting at the door, he's by his food dish. Now if it's empty, I'll fill it, and he's happy. But lots of times he'll bring me up to his food dish, and there will be food and water for him.
I'm standing there saying, why did this dog bring me up to his food dish when he's got plenty?
This is not really a problem, just an odd behavior that I wondered if it could mean anything.

Thanks
Budd

That's kind of funny. What kind of dog is he? He might be doing this just to get your attention, or he could be saying "this is my object". Sometimes half grown puppies like to move their food dish, dump out the contents, splash the water out. In this case you may want to give your dog a dish that isn't so easy to move around like a steel dish with a wide base or a thick heavy ceramic dish.

Jake's a year old yellow lab.
It could be an attention thing. Sometimes when he wants attention, and I'm not giving it to him, he'll bark like he heard something outside, knowing I'll go investigate it. I think he does it on purpose just to make me do something.

Where I am working we have three female labs and their food and water dish never stay put. I gave them a big steel water dish that they can't move (they've managed to team up together and smash the heavy ceramic crocks).
I would like for them to have waterbottles instead of a waterdish. The moment I give them water one of them enjoys splashing it out and making a mess. D'OH! We also have a rottie who does the same thing but I think he is bored because he doesn't have a roommate (rooms are big and spacious). We also have a boxer who is normally very neat about his food dishes, but he likes to cover his food dish with his bedding as if he is hiding it from the other dogs.
