“I rehabilitate dogs. I train people.” —Cesar Millan
There are at least 68 million dogs in America, and their owners lavish billions of dollars on them every year. So why do so many pampered pets have problems? In this definitive and accessible guide, Cesar Millan—star of National Geographic Channel’s hit show
Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan—reveals what dogs truly need to live a happy and fulfilled life.
From his appearances on
The Oprah Winfrey Show to his roster of celebrity clients to his reality television series, Cesar Millan is America’s most sought-after dog-behavior expert. But Cesar is not a trainer in the traditional sense—his expertise lies in his unique ability to comprehend dog psychology. Tracing his own amazing journey from a clay-walled farm in Mexico to the celebrity palaces of Los Angeles, Cesar recounts how he learned what makes dogs tick. In
Cesar’s Way, he shares this wisdom, laying the groundwork for you to have stronger, more satisfying relationships with your canine companions.
Cesar’s formula for a contented and balanced dog seems impossibly simple: exercise, discipline, and affection, in that order. Taking readers through the basics of dog psychology and behavior, Cesar shares the inside details of some of his most fascinating cases, using them to illustrate how common behavior issues develop and, more important, how they can be corrected.
Whether you’re having issues with your dog or just want to make a good bond even stronger, this book will give you a deeper appreciation of how your dog sees the world, and it will help make your relationship with your beloved pet a richer and more rewarding one.

Customer Review: Excellent, but shouldn't be the only reference for a dog owner
My husband and I are big fans of Cesar's show The Dog Whisperer and are amazed at Cesar's natural ability to communicate with all kinds of dogs. Someone else mentioned that the book does not provide any information that you can't get from watching the show. That is true, but it does provide you with a single reference point that you can return to when necessary for several behavior problems that cannot be addressed in a single show. Not only that, but it also provides a little background about Cesar and how he developed his understanding of dog behavior and dog "rehabilitation" techniques. However, if you are truly interested in dog behavior and want to be an educated dog owner, you should supplement your learning by reading other books on dog behavior. Even Cesar refers to other experts in the field and other books he recommends. Cesar's ideas are not new, and Cesar's way is not the only way.
Customer Review: SIMPLY THE BEST!
He starts out telling a bit of himself, his upbringing and WHY and HOW he knows so much about how dogs think and what they need becomes apparent...dont be put off by that part, its necessary and puts a faith in him and his knowledge of dogs of all kinds in all conditions, If you're new to his methods. Then he goes about explaining each aspect of what he has learned and why its necessary if you want your dog to be happy as the dog he is, not just to be happy yourself with a cute or smart or beautiful dog..that can do tricks etc. This Training is for YOU the owner, then you will make for a good pack leader and happy dog, by following his method, it takes practice, daily commitment, not some easy thing just by reading a book or watching his shows alone, he says it...It takes a daily commitment! But what a reward! in the end. HE IS THE BEST-HE KNOWS DOGS!!!! better than anyone I've ever seen or heard of. I'd say buy this book and the DVD as a set to watch and enhance what you learn in book. BTW I do have 2 dogs (Sheltie and a Lab) , so I know it works.
