Customer Review: tons of inaccuracies
I belong to a family who has owned a multitude of breeds: goldens, rottweilers, german shepards, black labs, yellow labs, poodles and various "mutts". A number of us have trained and titled dogs in obediance and schutzhund, and my mother has also been an instructor for a local club. What I saw in this book was a bunch of "labeling" of different breeds, whereas in my experience I have found that the breeders and owners have much more impact on what you get in a dog. If you want to know the general height, weight, etc, dog breed books are fine, but to tell you that specific breeds act this way or that way is not factual. The charts in this book made me both laugh and get angry. If you want a dog, go check out some breeders. Talk to owners of a specific breed. Visit local obediance clubs, but do not rely on books of this nature.
Customer Review: Lot's of Information, but not Reader Friendly
When I flipped through this book at the book store, I saw that there were a lot of words. The only pictures in this book were black and white sketches of the dog breed. All in all, I would only get this book if you have narrowed down the dog breeeds that you would like. If you don't have a clue of what kind of dog breed you want, I wouldn't get this book because it would be so boring to have to look through all those pages to find what kind of dog breed you want.
